Where did the idea of the song originate?

I wrote the song with one thing in mind, making a really classic sounding duet with one of my favorite local artists. So, one Sunday, after listening to classics, I ended up with a melody that involved the fewest and simplest chords. I was so hyped I messaged her right away and telling her about this song I made but we never really had the time to meet up and talk about it. I can’t tell you who just yet, but I’m pretty sure everyone would really like it once it goes into production when I start my album.

What’s your songwriting process like?

My song process is different these days. I barely have time to pick up my guitar, but when I do I try different things. I’m into a lot of country music and blues rock lately, and it’s probably because of where I’m at in life as of the moment that I tend to lean towards these songs. If I get an idea, I get my phone, hum the tune and record it, write topics I want to write about. I’ll let it simmer for a few days and see if it really is a good idea. I rarely force myself to write just for the sake of it these days.

When it comes to writing lyrics, where do you find inspiration?

Lyric wise, I guess I’ve gone more simple. Less is more is working for me now. Straight to the point, but sometimes the poet in me intervenes and makes a few adjustments. A lot of the themes have revolved around life in general as a topic. It’s pretty much meditative for me right now.

Who are your biggest influences in music and songwriting?

Definitely classic songwriters from the 60s to the 90s. It’s one of the things I consider as sort of a lost art in the recent trends, especially in pop music. It’s one thing to make it catchy, but talking about animals and how “lit” something is just doesn’t make sense in a world that needs sense these days. So, I really appreciate people like Eco and Lourdes who write from a private place but manage to make meaningful songs out if it.

Listen to Sticking With You by Kurt Ebarita:

Lyrics:

Maybe I believe in love that’s why I’m here
Maybe I just want to be loved that’s why I’m here
When you call me baby I won’t mind
and when you need me, baby, you going find
I’m sticking with you
yeah, babe, I’m sticking with you
I’m sticking with you
yeah babe, oh babe I’m sticking with you

I know I could be wrong but I swear, I wanna be here
and I know that all I need is some tender loving care, that’s why I’m here
When you call me baby I won’t mind
and when you need me, baby, you going find
I’m sticking with you
yeah, babe, I’m sticking with you
I’m sticking with you
yeah babe, oh babe I’m sticking with you

Coz When you call me baby I won’t mind
and when you need me, baby, you going find
I’m sticking with you
yeah, babe, I’m sticking with you
I’m sticking with you
yeah babe, oh babe I’m sticking with you.
