A quaint coffee shop by the road, Coffee Prince had its first Cuppa Folk last August 5. The hot and humid afternoon led up to an evening of coffee and homegrown music against the street buzz as background noise.
Opening the show with a whole lot of fun was our very own Luigi Balazo. For someone who has always played with bands, Luigi surprised everyone with his first solo gig.
Up next was Hanna Regis who shared her emotional melodies and insightful lyrics to the listening crowd.
Tony Alfonso confessed that he wasn’t used to playing “naked” – as in playing without his band, Drop Decay. Another first solo gig, it was Tony’s start of something new.
Loop’s intimate performances are always a treat, because we get to rediscover the lyrical treasure of their songs.
Capping off the night was Vincent Eco, who debuted a new song about another kind of pain other than romantic heartache – battling your own personal demons.
Thanks to all the folkers that came out, and to Coffee Prince Cebu for supporting homegrown music! ‘Til the next Cuppa Folk!
