I’m Not Sure What To Say But I’ll Say It Anyway

There is a fail-safe formula in the pop world, and that is sibling revelry. Perhaps there’s something indescribably enchanting watching a band of brothers create music as proven by The Jonas Brothers and Hanson. Carrying that torch and fueling the fire is a trio based from Cebu, Philippines quirkily called The Wonggoys. Brothers Gabe (vocalist), Kyle (rhythm guitarist) and William (lead guitarist) fused their innate musical talent and came up with, “I’m Not Sure What To Say But I’ll Say It Anyway”. Sure they still sing about girls (“Chase The Girl”), but what makes them unique and all the more charming is their jazz and blues flavor tinged with pop. “Limb”, “HD” and “FB” are just some of the auditory testaments of their musical style. Snippets of John Mayer, who they listed as an inspiration, can be felt on the vocals and guitar work in “Post No Bill” while a pinch of Jason Mraz can be detected in the playful, “Chase The Girl or Rule The World”. In their ode to patriotism called, “Kalayaan” (which means freedom in Filipino), it is clear that The Wonggoys are not your manufactured, run-of-the-mill “boy band”. Bound by blood and their passion for music, these brothers lend a more youthful appeal to jazz and blues without losing soul.
