The energy was high and people were piling in for a little dose of homegrown treats at Fete de la Musique, the annual music festival hosted by Alliance Francaise de Cebu.

This year’s Fête de la Musique was done in collaboration with ASPACE – who organized the event according to Alliance Francaise de Cebu’s programming – and powered by 22 Tango Records, offering a different texture to their usual acoustic set-up. This year, the audience was welcomed with a more intimate setting, allowing for a more authentic musical experience and giving way to more opportunity for connection.

The music festival originated in France about 40 years ago, initiated by the French Minister of Culture. The essence of Fête de la Musique, according to the Alliance Francaise de Cebu, is “creating music for the people, by the people”.

The night opened with the whimsical duo JRuss x DT, whom also announced their new band name – “Alice Who” performs as a full-fledged band on the Fete de la Musique stage.

The powerful Mary Anchit puts life into the crowd with her songs that speak to the heart and brings tears to our eyes.

Vincent Eco performs with a hopeful undertone to his usual somber set, hyping up the crowd with his songs “Chasing Happiness” and “Fire”

The night wouldn’t have been complete without a little touch of soul; Thinking Chair graces the crowd with a tone of sensuality and love.

Electronic duo Sepia Times gave us a peek into the future with their unique lyrics and sound.

Lourdes Maglinte performs her hit song 2 Cents – now on its 2nd week at No. 1 on the Y101 Weekend Top 20 – bearing the multicolored Pride flag in honor of Pride month.

The band of brothers, Wonggoys, ended the night with a bang, serving the crowd with song “Missy,” “Weekend,” “W’ay ‘Blema,” and “Gay Is Okay.”

Our massive thanks to the people who dropped by to show their support. All this would not have been a success without you. It takes a village.

Here’s to being champions of everything homegrown!
