Our fifth demo feature is All These Lights by Jericho Streegan.

What inspired you to write this song?

City lights inspired me to write this song. I was on a high part of the city, so I saw all the lights from down there.

Describe the process/experience of creating this song from start to finish?

Inspired by the city lights I saw, I started to think of a melody, because that’s what I think of first when I write a song. I loved the melody, so I started to write the first verse. Initially, I was very conflicted on how to write the second verse, but I just stuck with the main point of all these lights shining FOR and not WITH the one I want to watch these lights with. Luckily, I felt that there was something missing, so I wrote the bridge and the last part. Like this song, it’s always a fun adventure when writing and coming up with something.

Do you do something or listen to someone to kick start your creativity?

I play around with melodies and listen to sweet jazz stuff to kick start my creativity. It’s as if I am facing a challenge to create something that beautiful by myself.

Does songwriting come naturally to you?

Songwriting does come naturally to me, especially the music part. I love to connect and create new bits of sound based on my experiences in order to create a picture for listeners.

Who are your biggest influences musically?

I have a lot of musical influences that range from various genres, but all give a sweet, soulful, and soothing sound in common:

Bruno Major, John Mayer, Mac Ayres, Vincent Eco, BB King, Brian McKnight, Phum Viphurit, Oscar Peterson, and so much more.

Listen to ALL THESE LIGHTS by Jericho Streegan:

All These Lights Lyrics:

Horizon lights up the city

But they don’t light up enough for me

Headlights twinkle like fireflies

But they don’t shine brighter than your eyes

Dark or bright, I need you still

Words are never enough to tell you how I feel

Day or night, I need you so

You make things clear and great; I pray you’ll never go

Come right here, let’s watch the sky

As the sun goes down and the stars rise

My tears, they all fall down like raindrops from the clouds

Cause these lights up high

They will never shine

Brighter than your eyes

The moonlight sparkles, oh can’t you see?

It seems to glimmer for you and me

The sun was envious, you made it leave,

For it couldn’t see what’s in front of me

Dark or bright, I need you still

Words are never enough to tell you how I feel

Day or night, I need you so

You make things clear and great; I pray you’ll never go

Come right here, let’s watch the sky

As the sun goes down and the stars rise

My tears, they all fall down like raindrops from the clouds

Cause these lights up high

They will never shine

Brighter than your eyes

Hold me tight oh dear

Watch these lights with me

then you’d see them shine,

Shine for you and me

Come right here, let’s watch the sky

as it’s time to wave the stars goodbye

my tears, they all fall down like raindrops from the clouds

Cause these lights up high

They will never shine

Brighter than your eyes
