“…prepare to fall in love, get your heart broken, and fall in love again,” says Jude Guitamundoc director and writer of the new and upcoming musical “Monsters” set to hit the stage come November.

Talks about the musical had been circulating since early February 2019 and only now did we get the details.

The musical is a coming-of-age story told in the perspective of two friends, Bea and Elle, who go on a journey of self-discovery, withstanding obstacles and bumps, and uncovering their separate truths in each other.

Featuring songs written and produced by Cattski Espina, this musical is bound to send you barrel-rolling down a hill of feelings.

“I’ve always been a Cattski fan,” Jude said, while talking about his musical choice, “…the qualities that I love in her songs, the wit and humor, sincerity and straightforwardness, are the qualities that make them a perfect fit for a musical.”

The play will be featuring songs like “Hello Tears,” “Sea Hue,” “Smitten,” “Monsters,” and many more. Thespians and music enthusiasts alike should definitely keep their eyes peeled.

When asked about whether she’d ever thought her songs would be used in a musical, Cattski answered, “I have thought about turning my songs into a musical, but I couldn’t write the story because it always ends up to be my story and I didn’t want it to be about me.”

Cattski and Jude had been talking over the possibility of staging a musical since before her album Zero was released. It wasn’t until November 2017 that Jude started actively pursuing the idea and putting the thought onto paper. By December 2018, Jude had come up with the first draft of the book.

In collaboration with Offbeat Concepts, 22 Tango Records, Fatboys Production, and MDF Production, Monsters the Musical was birthed – the perfect way to celebrate Cattski’s two-decade long presence in the local music scene.
